Brief Bio
Alan Perotti graduated in Computer Science in Turin with a three-year and master's thesis on symbolic Artificial Intelligence (AI). He obtained his doctorate in Turin under the supervision of City University London, proposing an AI system that hybridizes temporal logic and neural networks. He works as a researcher at CENTAI, dedicating himself to fundamental research on how neural networks make decisions, participating in industrial research activities and European research projects, and dissemination/teaching.

SCOPE
Machine Learning (ML) models are now used in every application area where it is possible to collect digital data. Many models make decisions (for example, labeling a bank transfer as 'fraudulent') on the basis of numerical calculations which effectively make them 'black boxes': a verdict is produced, but not how it was obtained. eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) addresses this problem by enriching the decisions of ML models with information about internal decision-making processes, so that their correctness can be verified. This Special Session covers methodological works, applications, and research at the intersection with law, ethics, and cognitive science.
